European Backgammon Tour French Open Results

Fabrizio Lo Surdo of Italy won the French Open backgammon tournament held in Enghien-les-Bains (Paris), France from October 28 to November 2nd, 2008. The second spot was taken by Matvey "Falafel" Natanzon of Israel. The European Doubles Championship was championed by the American-Iranian duo of Ed O´Laughlin and Sasan Taherzadeh and finalized by Ron Reinhard (Austria) and Rainer Witt (Germany).

The third stop of this year's European Backgammon Tour (organized by the World Backgammon Association) the 6th French Open and 4th European Doubles Championship had just ended at the Casino Barrière d'Enghien-les-Bains in Paris, France. 52 the world's most restless backgammon pros competed for the French Open Championship, in addition to the dozens who played the Advanced, Intermediate and Amateur divisions. The European Doubles Championship featured 13 teams.

Italian Fabrizio Lo Surdo, who at the previous EBGT event, Georgian Open, had to settle for the second place (losing to Turkish Cem Duran), had captured the championship, the grand prize and free entry to the next EBGT event at the French Open. Israeli "Falafel" Natanzon, the winner of the Portuguese Open, the backgammon tournament that launched the 2008 European Backgammon Tour, had to suffice with the second place this time.

The fourth, final stop of the 2008 European Backgammon Tour will be taking place in the City of Venice in Venice, Italy on November 27-30, 2008. Before the French Open, Falafel topped the EBGT Masterpoints with 93 points, while Fabrizio Lo Surdo, the new EBGT champion, was ranked at number 5, with 76 points. Falafel might be still on the first stop, while Lo Surdo would probably climb up to a better position on EBGT listing.
