2008 Las Vegas Backgammon Tournament
by Phil Simborg
The biggest backgammon tournament in the US, the Las Vegas tournament, started out on Wednesday, April 16. Phil Simborg, the well known backgammon instructor and columnist played the Las Vegas backgammon tournament and served as the auctioneer for the event. Check out Phil's live report from the Las Vegas backgammon tournament:
In the Quarters, it will be Sax vs. Woolsey and none of the others are set yet. O'hagan beat Ballard, but I still own Cattanagh who is still alive.
Won my first two matches in consolation, beating Perry Gartner (11 pts) and then I lost to Art Grater on an exciting 8 cube.
I am in the Semis of the 2-point minis. I just beat Ray Fogerlund to advance. I played at 2.777. Take a look down the page to see how Ray played... obviously, not good enough to beat me!.
