Phil Simborg was born 62 years ago in Nebraska, grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas. Currently lives in Chicago, Illinois with his third wife and regular backgammon partner, Phil serves as a sales manager and sales trainer in a print management company. He has been playing backgammon seriously for over 20 years.
Throughout his backgammon career, Phil got to play in the most prestigious backgammon tournaments in the US including the Las Vegas tournament, Chicago Bar Point Club Championship, Georgia State Championship and others. His list of opponents includes live backgammon legends from the league of Kit Woolsey, Jake Jacobs and Neil Kazaross.
Phil Simborg is a keen supporter of online backgammon. In an interview to a backgammon website he was quoted saying: "I believe the on-line servers are exactly the same as playing live… On line servers and the bots (Snowie, Jellyfish and GNUBG) have done much to help bring backgammon to people all over the world and have united people from all over the world."
